Do you know why permanent weight loss is difficult? Not because most diet programs are just fads, or that most weight loss supplements don't work. Weight loss is easy; there are many fad diets and supplements that would help you become ultra slim within a couple of months.
But permanent weight loss is difficult, simply because when you start eating normally after a few weeks you will gain back whatever you have lost with the help of fad diets.
Keeping weight off is more difficult than losing it! So is there any other way to lose weight permanently? Is it possible that every time you weigh yourself on the scales, you find your weight going down instead of up? Well, it is, and you don't even need to 'diet' to achieve this end.
The trouble with us, human beings is that we love eating too much in too short a time. We humans are great foodies, and we would eat almost anything we can lay our hands on! Sure, we must eat in order to supply energy to our body - energy that enables us to work.
But hey, circa 2008, eating has become less of a necessity and more of an emotional remedy. There are many people who eat simply to get rid of their emotional problems, and there are others who eat merely to kill time because they have nothing worthwhile to do.
Unregulated eating could still have been okay if the foods we eat were healthy. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Call it a paradox of life, but most of the foods we love to eat are generally of unhealthy nature.
We love eating junk foods that provide no essential nutrition to our bodies; if anything, they make us fatter. And we are not even satisfied with a small quantity of food. We want to stuff our stomachs with as much of these junk foods as possible. At the end of the day, we cannot really blame our waistlines if they bulge, can we?
You may not even realize it, but you might be eating more than the capacity of your stomach. Your stomach is essentially a container that has the capacity of just a liter and a little more! So if you try to cram pounds of food into eat you can imagine what will happen! Our brain weighs only about 4-5 kg, and as a rule, we must not eat more than the weight of our brain, if we want to stay slim, that is.
So essentially, you can eat all types of foods and still lose weight. The key is moderation. If you eat everything moderately, you can eat fish and chips and even the other 'fatty' foods that are forbidden to you when you are on a 'diet'. And by the way, you should never 'diet'. Diet is a good way of depriving yourself of your favorites, and sooner or later, you will 'break' away from your diet and give in to your cravings.
