A few days ago my friend Andy was asking me for weight loss advice. I told him only this: if you want to lose weight, go for it. But if you want to diet, then go for the low carb plan. I am not saying that it is the best diet plan available in the world but one thing is for sure: you lose your weight a lot faster with it than with most other diet plans. Now, there are some myths associated with low carb diets. I am here to dispel all those myths so that you can decide for yourself whether it is right for you or not.
Most people believe that the weight you lose with the help of low carb diet program is not actual weight loss - it is merely loss of water and not that of fat. In my opinion, it is absolutely wrong to believe that low carb diet results only in water loss. Yeah, with low carb dist such as Atkins or South Beach, you WILL lose some water during the initial few weeks, but after that, what you will lose is pure fat and nothing else.
Low carb diets decrease the level of carbohydrates present in your diet. As you might know, carbohydrates are the number one source from which your body drives the energy it needs for carrying out various activities. Now, when deprived of carbs, it looks elsewhere for getting energy.
Good news is that the 'elsewhere' happens to be the large fat storage present inside your body. Your body starts burning your fat in order to produce energy, and that is what you want, isn't it? As you burn fat, you will lose your inches and pounds.
So the next time someone tells you that you lose water instead of fat with the help of a low carb diet plan, thank him for the information, but at the same time, correct him by pointing out that water loss occurs only in the first phase of the low carb diet plan. What you lose afterwards is pure fat- no more and no less.
